Although PAT testing is not a legal requirement, all workplaces are required to maintain electrical equipment in a safe condition. All workplaces must legally ensure the health and safety of employees and the wider public. Because of this, any workplace that has any electrical equipment could benefit from PAT testing.

Periodic inspection and testing should be carried out only by electrically competent persons, such as registered electricians. They will check the condition of the electrics against the UK standard for the safety of electrical installations, BS 7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installations (IET Wiring Regulations).

Yes, electrical emergencies can occur at any time and we offer a rapid response and an effective electrical emergency repair service 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

All commercial electrical systems and installations must be checked and tested by a qualified electrician at least once every five years. Some properties require more frequent testing for reasons including:

• New tenancy of a property
• The age of the electrical system
• The condition of electricals after fire or flooding
• The nature of the business (e.g. properties with swimming pools or energy-intensive businesses)

The electrical inspection will check on the: adequacy, suitability and serviceability of your electrical appliances. For example, it will check the switches, sockets and light fittings; check for any damages and make sure there are adequate signs and notices.

No matter how big or small the job, the electrician should provide you with an electrical installation certificate which will confirm that the work carried out meets the British Standard for electrical safety, BS7671. All electrical work in dwellings is covered under Building Regulations.
