FNW Electrical is accredited by OZEV, the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles and offers a range of electric charge points. We provide our Eaton Socon customers the whole market to choose from rather than being tied to a specific manufacturer.
We are also accredited under the Electrical Vehicle Home Charge Scheme and the Workplace ChargePoint Scheme and are therefore able to offer trusted installation of EV Charge Points throughout Eaton Socon.
The workplace charging scheme (WCS) explained
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government scheme for electric vehicles offered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).
- A single Eaton Socon business can claim for up to a maximum of 20 charge points (e.g. 20 single socket or 10 double socket charge points).
- You cannot retrospectively claim - all claims are for newly installed electric car charge points at your place of business in Eaton Socon.
- The purchase and installation cost of a new workplace charging station under the WCS is reduced by 75% for a single socket and is capped at £500 per socket.
How do you qualify for the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)
The WCS is available for all qualifying businesses subject to criteria explained below:
- Your premises must be suitable with private and off-street parking
- You will need to have or already have electric vehicles or prove that there will be a future need for them.
- You must have the charging station installed by an OZEV-approved workplace charging station installer like FNW Electrical

Commercial Car Chargers - FAQs
Yes, all our electricians are registered, certified and qualified with many years of experience.
Yes, it is standard practice and with built in battery management systems, there is no risk of overcharging. It means that you will find your car fully charged in the morning but not overcharged.
Yes, electrical emergencies can occur at any time and we offer a rapid response and an effective electrical emergency repair service 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Periodic inspection and testing should be carried out only by electrically competent persons, such as registered electricians. They will check the condition of the electrics against the UK standard for the safety of electrical installations, BS 7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installations (IET Wiring Regulations).
Although PAT testing is not a legal requirement, all workplaces are required to maintain electrical equipment in a safe condition. All workplaces must legally ensure the health and safety of employees and the wider public. Because of this, any workplace that has any electrical equipment could benefit from PAT testing.
No matter how big or small the job, the electrician should provide you with an electrical installation certificate which will confirm that the work carried out meets the British Standard for electrical safety, BS7671. All electrical work in dwellings is covered under Building Regulations.
EV (electric vehicle) owners can “refill” their cars at home simply by plugging it in. You can use a standard outlet which takes a while or install a car charger for a much quicker charge. All electric vehicles come with a home connector kit.
The electrical inspection will check on the: adequacy, suitability and serviceability of your electrical appliances. For example, it will check the switches, sockets and light fittings; check for any damages and make sure there are adequate signs and notices.
All commercial electrical systems and installations must be checked and tested by a qualified electrician at least once every five years. Some properties require more frequent testing for reasons including:
- New tenancy of a property
- The age of the electrical system
- The condition of electricals after fire or flooding
- The nature of the business (e.g. properties with swimming pools or energy-intensive businesses)
